COMPETITIONS
Norfolk Youth Basketball League
The Norfolk Youth Basketball League was formed in 2019 through the Norfolk Development Committee - a subcommittee of the Norfolk Basketball Association comprised of representatives from junior clubs across Norfolk. The aim of the NYBL is to;

Provide competitive opportunities for developing young players in Norfolk and throughout the region.

Provide a development pathway for new or returning referees and officials.

Help bridge the gap from participation basketball to Jr. NBL and senior local league or NBL competitions.

Promoting the values of the Basketball England talent pathway and player development framework.
Norfolk Basketball League
The Norfolk Basketball Local Leagues was established over 50 years ago. It is the main league for senior players across the county providing competitive opportunities for all clubs and teams. The league runs from September to April giving teams plenty of playing opportunities across the season.
Currently,men's teams compete in two divisions and women's teams compete in one division. Over the years, the leagues have seen a growth in the number of teams and clubs participating, with additional clubs in the East Region competing.

National Basketball League
The National Basketball League is governed by Basketball England and sees over 600 teams across the country compete in various leagues. With leagues running from Under 12 to Senior Level, there is plenty of opportunity for teams to compete against the best teams from across the region and the country.

In Norfolk we have five junior teams currently competing in different leagues. This offers the players involved in these leagues a fantastic opportunity to develop their basketball skills and knowledge whilst competing at a high level.

British Wheelchair Basketball League
Based at Easton College, the Norwich Lowriders are a wheelchair basketball team set up to allow children and adults to participate in a inclusive sport, to have fun and stay fit. Currently, they are the only wheelchair basketball team based in the county.

They offer non-competitive and competitive opportunities with a team currently participating in the British Wheelchair Basketball National League.

Schools, Colleges & Universities
Across the county, schools are teaching basketball in schools, running clubs and organising tournaments and competitions for children to get engaged in the sport. This is prevalent in both primary and secondary schools. These opportunities provide a great platform for children to learn and play basketball with some schools have entering teams into the NYBL Competition.

In addition to the Norfolk Basketball League, the University of East Anglia also play in the BUCS League competitions providing competitive opportunities at a high level against other unviersities.
