All Change!

Yesterday evening both the Norfolk Basket Ball Association and Norfolk Basketball League held their respective Annual General Meetings at Easton College.

A key item on the Agenda of any AGM is the election of officers and, with a number of vacant posts, it was vital that these were filled.

It was encouraging that at both meetings people stepped up to the plate and volunteered to be in the vanguard as Norfolk Basketball moves forward.

The Association meeting saw Mitch Dodman re-elected as Chair.

After an absence from basketball administration of around eighteen months, the Roberts family returned to the fray. Dave Roberts has once again been elected as Vice-Chair of the Association.

Jordan Roberts has been elected as the new Competitions Secretary and will be responsible for the organisation and administration of the Norfolk Cup, Plate and Iceni Trophy.

Nicole Cross remains as Association Secretary but takes on the added burden of Registrar.

The new Treasurer will be Sharon Childs who has links with the Lynn Nets club.

The new Technical Secretary will be Dean Rosembert.

Joanne Thomas was elected to the role of Women's Representative.

Importantly for this site, Jordan Roberts is to take over as Publicity Officer and Website Manager.

The current Site Manager is away and plans are in place for a handover so that the site will be under new management as soon as possible.

At the Norfolk League AGM all the Officers were re-elected with the exception of the Secretary. Robin Orton stands down after seventeen years in the role and will be there to mentor the newly elected Secretary, Barry Ford who is linked to Norwich Vipers and Coaches the UEA Panthers women's side.

Jon Getley remains as Chair, Matt Wakefield as Vice-Chair and Karen Stott as Treasurer.

With so many new people elected there were also some farewells.

Andy Milbourne was presented with a carriage clock and gift token to mark his retirement from the Association Committee after forty two years service. His also joins John Mann as an Honorary Life Vice-President.

Lorna Milbourne was presented with a bouquet of flowers in recognition of her patience and the support she has provided over the vast majority of this time.

Both Neil Baggott, who stepped down as Technical Secretary and Robin Orton as Association Vice-Chair as well as Norfolk League Secretary have contributed greatly to the work of the Association and League and were thanked for their service.

There was a full, frank discussion at the Norfolk League AGM about some of the problems encountered last season. Measures have been put in place, with the unanimous support of all clubs present, to improve matters from September onwards.
